Investing is one of the key strategies to building long-term wealth and financial security. Good investing is for the long-term, usually years or decades. You can invest for the short term, but that is more like trading.
We cover on this site the differences between trading and investing, the types of investing possible, and what your options are.

Crypto Currencies
Popular Crypto
A cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency secured by cryptography, which makes it nearly impossible to counterfeit or double-spend. Most cryptocurrencies exist on decentralised networks using blockchain technology — a distributed database ledger enforced by a disparate network of computers.
A defining feature of cryptocurrencies is that they are generally not issued by any central authority, rendering them theoretically immune to government interference or manipulation.
Bitcoin (BTC) was started in 2009 by Satoshi Nakamoto, is decentralised and has a limited supply of 21 million. The value varies constantly, and is currently worth over $50,000 each. Each BTC is sub-divided into 100 million Satoshis.
Any cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin, including Ethereum (ETH) is called an Altcoin. Ethereum is a platform for DApps that use smart contracts, which are self-executing agreements with all their conditions encoded.
Stablecoins are pegged to stable assets like fiat currencies or commodities to minimise price volatility. One example of a stablecoin is Tether (USDT) which has a value of US$1. Others include USDC, DAI, and coins backed by gold.
Precious Metals
Gold, Silver, Platinum
Precious metals are metals that are rare and have a high economic value due to various factors, including their scarcity, use in industrial processes, hedge against currency inflation, and role throughout history as a store of value. The most popular precious metals with investors are gold, silver, and platinum.
Gold coins date back thousands of years. It is one of the oldest mediums of exchange, with the earliest known gold coins as far back as 610 B.C. Buying gold coins is still popular and appeals to both collectors and investors. You can buy gold coins, bars, or jewellery.
Gold also has many industrial uses, and is used in electronics.
Silver coins are often more affordable than gold, making them accessible to all investors; however, they still carry many similar benefits.
Silver also has many industrial uses, including electronics, and solar panels, using silver to convert sunlight into electricity. Silver is vital in the production of plastics and chemicals.
Platinum is primarily used as an industrial metal, but you can also buy platinum britannias in the UK.
It is used in a huge range of industrial processes and products, including fertilisers, fiberglass, anti-cancer drugs, and thermocouples in furnaces and kilns.
And it is used in hard disk drives.
